Weekend

So we had a very nice, busy and interesting weekend that I wanted to share with you. It all started Friday night when we got confirmation that the kids could get their Balck Belt Club supplies early, but I wouldn't have to pay for them until the sale time, when I would receive sale pricing! So Saturday morning, we went down to the Tae Kwon Do studio and got them fitted for sparring gear and they selected their weapons. This made both kids very happy, and they tried to practice sparring all weekend! After this we headed out for my friend A's place.

She lives about 45 minutes from me, on the other side of town (affectionately referred to by me as the other side of the world). I had originally planned to go by myself, but DH had to work, so the kids and I all went. I was a little nervous about this, since my DD tends to want to articipate in the adults conversations, rather than being a kid. But Today she was perfectly happy to join DS and A's DS in watching The Incredibles (I caught a bit of it, and now want to see it all!). So while the kids watched the movie, A and I visited and I saw all her wonderful stitched and framed work! She has some beautiful pieces and the framing is simply incredible! From there we moved on to her trade box! IT had almost as much stuff in it as my entire stash! I was amazed. Then we went to her "keeper" stash. I would say her stash area is about 6 feet long (at least) and almost floor to ceiling. I think I was speechless for about 5 minutes after seeing the collection! One of the things I found most amazing is the lack of unframed finished pieces! She is so good about getting everything framed! I selected a few things from her trade box, including something for my mom as a thank you gift for allowing us to stay with her while we're back east in June! Right after A posted her trade list, it was time for us to head back so DD could make her Demo Team practice at 4, so A posted and we said our goodbyes!

On our way back home, we stopped at Subway for some lunch and ate subs while driving home! We got back here about an hour later to discover that DH was still at work, and I was going to have to take DS with me to the Demo Team practice, but he found a friend there, so he was fine! When I got home I checked on A's posted list, and discovered that one of her links was broken, which someone else had already posted. So I called her to let her know the link was broken and that we'd made it home safely! We laughed for a few minutes, and got back to our days!

Demo Team practice was great, adn my friend came up so her DS could watch too, and we did our last Easter shopping. After practice, DH was still not sure when he was going to be done working, so the kids and I made dinner plans with her and her DS! I came home and got my eggs started boiling, then we ran out to grab some dinner. About the time our food was being served, DH called to say he was on his way home...figures doesn't it? So I told him, we had already made dinner plans and it was too late to get out of them! He was ok with that for a change, but he did enjoy the quiet when he got home! After dinner my friend and I left the kids at her house and came here to check on my eggs and pick something up. Then we went back to her house for another hour or so, and visited there!

By now its 9 PM and I finally got the kids home to dye eggs! By about 10:30 that was done and the kids were sent to bed. I was exhausted, but still had to do the Easter Bunny stuff! Midnight came and I fell into bed exhausted and passed out almost right away! Sunday morning, we were lucky the kids slept in until almost 7!

Then we had our egg hunt and the kids enjoyed their Easter baskets. We thought about going to church, but didn't make it. Instead I assigned the kids some chores and lay down until I heard them start on them...well I heard nothing for over 2 hours as I fell back asleep! I finally got up and in the shower after a wonderful nap. DH and I thought about getting some lunch, but it was getting late and I needed to be home to start dinner. Then we discovered the roast wasn't thawed yet, so we took the kids to Applebee's for dinner! This was quite yummy, and I didn't have to do a thing! That's my idea of a great meal! We got home from dinner and did some family time and got the kids to bed. I cooked the roast last night, and enjoyed it twice as much, since I'd had the restful day before that!

Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

A Healthier Me

As some of you know back at the first of the month I started Tae Kwon Do to attempt to get in shape and lose some weight. I promised myself taht I would take some basic measurements in addition to a beginning weight in order to track my improvements. Well I need to put them someplace that I can find them again, so here they are:

Waist 38 inches
Hips 43 inches
Thighs 24.5 inches
Weight 175

I will update this to track any improvements approximately once a month somewhere between the 15th and the 20th. This way I hope to share my progress with my faithful readers, and I hope to see some soon! Thanks for cheering me on! By the way, I'm testing for my next belt (orange) on 4/9 wish me luck!

Thirteen Years Ago Today

I said "I Do" to the most wonderful man in the world. Today, I'm taking a few minutes out of my normal boring life to write something to him! So without further ado, I want to wish my DH a very happy anniversary with a few of my special memories of our life together!

We've been through a lot in the past thirteen years, but you mean the world to me. When we decided to merge your habitual lateness with my habitual earliness, I thought we would manage to compromise with being right on time most of it, but we haven't. Sometimes I've prevailed and we've been early, and sometimes you've prevailed and we've been late, but most importantly we've been together!

We've had good times and bad. We've laughed and cried and you've put up with me through all my moods. From PMS to insecurities, from the happiest of happies to the saddest of sads, you've always been there for me! ALthough I may not always express myself as well as I should, you've helped me work through so much in life, I could not imagine being without you. You are my partner and my world!

I wish there were words to express how I feel, and how much you mean to me. You have provided me with two wonderful children who keep us busier than we ever imagined we could be kept. You've supported me in adventures through this world that thirteen years ago I never dreamed we would choose to follow. You supported me through sickness and in health. I think during this marriage, we have lived our wedding vows to the fullest and I look forward to many more years of doing the same.

I could not find a generic card that would come close to expressing how I feel about you and all we've been through, so this is my way of telling you (and the world) that I am proud to have you for my husband and would not trade you for anything! For my DH, the bottom line is I love you with all my heart!
